Warkworth Castle and Hermitage. 15th Century castle set high above Warkworth on a grassy mound. Harry Hotspur was born at the castle in 1364.
The Hermitage is a 14th century chapel cut out of a cliff. A ferryman rows visitors from the landing stage on the bank of the Coquet river to view the chapel. Note that due to severe flooding Warkworth Hermitage will be closed until April 2009. The castle is still open during it's usual opening hours.
