Faversham, Kent, England, UK Shore

Faversham is a historic Roman market town situated between the Downs and the North Kent marshes. Faversham retains much of it's heritage, in particular Abbey Street and the town centre include fine medieval houses.

Faverham is known for it's brewing industry, including Britain's oldest brewery, Shepherd Neame. Faversham is also historically important for being one of the main centres of explosives production in the UK, with gunpowder and explosives manufactured from the 16th century until the last of the factories closed in 1934. The Oare Works is now a country park, with streams, watermills and trees, but remains of the factory buildings have been conserved within this natural context.
