Chatham, Kent, England, UK Shore

Chatham is known for its historically important naval dockyard, with records dating back to 880AD. The dockyard was established in 1568 by Elizabeth I, and famous ships to be launched there include HMS Victory in the 18th Century.

Many fortifications were built on the stretch of water surrounding the docks to protect the dockyard from attack, many of these still remain.

Today Chatham is a market town, attractions include the historic dockyard, a paddle steamer and the recently created Dickens World.
